So after being with the kids 24-7 for 3 days, we decided we needed a little break. So after we got back from the cabin and cleaned up, we went to Tepanyaki's for dinner with Karen, Christian, GR (Christian's bro), Laurel, Sam and Mom Skousen (Dad couldn't come). It is Karen and Christian's 8th Anniversary and they invited us to dinner with them to celebrate. The food was amazing, as always. It was a nice night out!
This past week we went up to my families cabin with Dan's family. We pitched tents behind the cabin for those who really wanted to rough it. I was planning on sleeping in the cabin with my little family (I'm not much of a camper) but Lindsay and Zane really wanted to sleep outside. I want them to like camping and to have the experience of sleeping in a tent. So we decided to use our 10-12 man tent that we've never used and sleep outside the first night. Lindsay and Zane slept great. Gavin, on the other hand, is not used to having so much space so he rolled around our ginormous tent. One time he'd rolled by the tent door, curled in a ball, shivering. We had to put him back in his sleeping bag 3 times. So we slept in the nice, cozy cabin the second night. We got a lot more sleep.
On Thursday, our first day, we drove up Big Cottonwood Canyon (just for something to do) and hiked up to Donut Falls. We didn't go all the of the way because of the kids, but it was fun to put our feet in the freezing cold water. Chris. Char, Mike, Brie , Trevor and Josh did hike further though. Gavin spent about 15 minutes just throwing rocks in the water. Then he discovered he had zippers on the sides of his pants that unzipped to pockets. He began filling his pockets with tiny rocks for a good 10 minutes. When we got back to the cabin, Dan cleaned out about 20 rocks. At least it kept Gavin busy.
On Friday, we drove up East Canyon a little ways to a Reservoir for swimming. We brought 2 air mattresses and used them as rafts to just float around on. It was very relaxing. Again, Gavin spent the majority of the time just throwing rocks into the water. He was in heaven, since that is what he likes to do ~ throw things.
We packed up on Saturday and came home. It amazes me how filthy the kids clothes get. Gavin enjoyed sliding down the dirt hill again and again. Lindsay loved hanging out with Brie. Chris and Char brought their dogs, and my kids are afraid of animals. We're working on it, but they really wanted to be brave and go feed the dogs and pet them. They were pretty brave and Zane would ask after every meal, "Can I go outside with Chris and see the dogs?" I'm glad he's getting braver. The guys also brought up their air soft guns and shot at tin cans. I tried and do not aim very good. Oh well. Anyways, we had a lot of fun. 3 days was just about the right amount of camping for me. When Dan and I first got married we made a deal: we would alternate years going camping and going to Disneyland. Well we pretty much have gone camping every year and to Disneyland every year, so I think the deal is broken. Sorry honey!

Grandma Tracey , Sis and her boys and Brie came to our house last week to hang out and play at the park. The kids had fun and then we did a picnic lunch on our front porch.
This was the last day he was here. I think he was so ready for his mom and dad to be home. After his nap, he wanted to hold all 3 blankets he brought and his Eeyore. He was getting mad because he kept dropping them while trying to walk around. Poor kid.

"I can't believe it's really true!" 
Gavin wanted to sit in Zane's seat for the picture. Lindsay and Zane sit in the back and Gavin has his own seat where he can't tease the others! Our good old 1997 Nissan Maxima has seen better days. It's been a great car, but things just keep breaking on us. Dan hates fixing cars and dealing with them, so we also decided to trade in the Maxi and get Dan a newer car. He decided on a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse. It's a sporty little thing and he loves it! I don't mind driving it either but it has a strange smell. It kind of smells like Mr. Hallstrom's breath from my 10th grade English class. Not my favorite teacher. Anyways, glad you love the car Dan! Just don't get any speeding tickets!

On July 3rd, we drove down to Roosevelt, Utah for my cousin, Jacque's wedding. She married Cory Wilkinson and they are so happy! We barely missed the ceremony, but the reception was really nice. The kids were so good in the car, but that's because of the new vehicle we were driving in, but that's a whole different post. Gavin did however make it known that we were present at the reception. Jacque had a table of jars with different kinds of candy that you could dish out and eat. Of course the kids were near and the around that table for most of the evening. We kept trying to keep Gavin away from it because he kept trying to get candy out by himself. Well, while they had dancing going on, I helped Gavin get a a Jelly Bean out and then walked him to the dance floor where Dan, Lindsay and Zane were. Zane said he wanted to dance with me, so I started to dance with him and about 5 seconds later we heard a huge crash of glass, followed by the sound of little balls rolling. I immediately looked for Gavin and there he was by the candy table looking very shocked. Of course he had to break the BIG jar with the little candy jelly balls in it, so they rolled everywhere! I was so embarrassed. I didn't get a picture of it, but my cousin Tonya did and she said she was going to put it on her blog. So after he apologized to my aunt, we made him help sweep it up (not the glass). So that's 3 things he's broken something in public in 6 weeks! At least everyone has been nice to me about it, at least in front of my face. But I'm starting to question my mothering skills! Anyways, we still had a fun time. Congrats Jacque and Cory!

Before we left our house that day, our power went out. Then on our way, we saw this brush fire about a mile from our house. I was hoping we'd come home to our house still standing, and we did.
