Our talents

After church today, while eating lunch, we suddenly started discussing all the talents we each have and what we love most about each other. I have no idea what started this conversation but I thought it was fun to hear what we thought of each other so I thought I would blog about.

  • Brooklyn: Since she is only 2 we are still trying to learn more about her little BIG personality. She is so dang sweet! She has a sweet little voice and when she is telling us something she is so serious and you can usually only catch a few of the words. She loves to dance around and wear "pretty dresses" with her high heel shoes. She is also the cuddliest child we have ever had and we LOVE it!

  • Gavin: He has so much energy and brings so much energy into our home. He loves his mama and is probably our biggest helper. He will ask several times a week what he can do to help....like help with laundry or make dinner. He is also very funny and he laughs at a lot of things including himself (like me). He is a very fast runner also.

  • Zane: He is very tender hearted. He doesn't like when people get hurt or yell. He is fast reader and peacemaker. He is best friends with all of his siblings and loves to take care of Brooklyn. He is funny also but in a different way than his brother. He usually makes a one liner comment and doesn't laugh which makes it even funnier (like Dan). He is a great basketball player too.

  • Lindsay: She is full of lots of personality. She loves to be around people and have friends. She is very creative and is always wanting to do a project. She is quick to forgive. She loves to dance and is very good at it and is also good at playing the piano.

It is so much fun to see all of their personalities shine through as they get older and older.

WHAT IN THE 6 MONTHS SINCE I BLOGGED?

I haven't even logged into our blog for months! I am sad about this......I need to be better. I know that not many people even look at our blog anymore, but I need to do this because this is a lot of my journaling and I am sad that this past year has gone down the drain. So in a nutshell, life is great! We can't complain and we feel very blessed. I will be back to blog some more! WOOT!

What a special day we have had today! Our oldest, Lindsay, made the decision to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She has been planning this day for a LONG time and I'm not joking. About a year ago she wanted to start looking at baptism dresses and started planning everything. This little girl KNOWS what she wants. Her favorite color is purple so we tried to incorporate that with a lot of things. We bought her dress at White Elegance a couple months ago and decided to take out the white ribbon and replace it with a purple one. It looks beautiful! We decided to serve ice cream for a refreshment afterwards instead of a full meal which ended up working out great! She also asked her Uncle Trevor and Aunt Liz if they would make their delicious homemade ice cream months ago. For her baptism pictures she asked if we could have them taken at Gardner Village. Like I said, she knows what she wants. We first took a few pictures in our neighborhood park to put on her invitations, then luckily last week my brother Matt and cute SIL, Lauren, happened to be in town for a few days, so we had her take the "real" pictures at Gardner Village. THEY LOOK AMAZING! Thank you Lauren! I loved so many of them it was hard to choose which ones we wanted. So today was the big day. We woke up to 30 something degree weather and snow!!!!! Not my idea of a spring day, but it did look pretty. Lindsay woke up very early (6:20 am), it was like Christmas morning for her because she was so excited! Dan's mom and dad came over early because Lindsay had asked Grandma Tracey to french braid her hair (something I have yet to figure out how to do!). We got to the Stake Center early for her and Dan to change into their baptism clothing and Lindsay was just glowing. I was so excited for her I kept feeling butterflies. After a couple of great talks in the chapel, we headed back to the baptismal font with another girl in our ward, Lexi Brock, who was also getting baptized. We actually had 2 others in our ward getting baptized, one being her good friend, Maizy, but they split them in two groups to fit everyone in the room! I was overcome with the spirit as soon as Dan said her name in the baptism prayer, then the tears started as soon has he immersed her into the water. She is clean and whole! What an amazing feeling as a parent! When I went to help her change she was FREEZING! I tried to warm her up the best I could and even used the hairdryer to warm her. We dressed her into her beautiful dress and put some little purple flowers throughout her hair. We went into the cultural hall where all our family and friends were waiting to have Lindsay confirmed a member of the church and to receive the the gift of the Holy Ghost. We feel very blessed to have so many family who were able to come and so many worthy Priesthood holders to be in the circle. (We missed you Sis & Zach, Jenny & Ben and Matt & Lauren). Even Lindsay's Great-Grandpa Ted was able to come and be part of the circle. Dan gave a very sweet blessing and was emotional as was I when I gave the closing prayer. We took pictures and headed back to our ward building for all the ice cream and cookies you could eat! I had decorated the room with purple tablecloths, with a picture of Lindsay and a vase of flowers on each table. I'm not very good at planning parties or decorating but I think it looked pretty good. Dan and I put together a video of Lindsay to show at the church. It took a lot of hours but I do have to say I have VERY talented and patient husband! He is a master at Photoshop and also made my vision of her video come true! Thanks honey! So below you can see pictures and her video. It's kind of long but my amazing mom taught me how important it is to take pictures so I had a lot to pick from and it was hard. Believe it or not, I did cut out about 100 pictures so it wouldn't be as long! Hahaha! We are so grateful for all of the love and support from our families and friends. I am so grateful to a loving Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. I have been so humbled with this whole experience in helping prepare Lindsay to be baptized. Sometimes we need to be reminded of just the basics of the gospel and just how important the basics are. We love you Lindsay and we are so proud of you!

Happy 32nd Birthday Dan!

Happy Birthday my love!

Dan started a new hobby of tieing knots and making bracelets. So his parents gave him some knot books!

Because we had so much leftover wedding cake and goodies from Amy's wedding we used some of the half eaten cake for Dan's birthday cake. Good thing it happened to be some of the best cake we'd ever eaten! (So white trash!)

Amy and Sam's wedding!

Wahoo!! My youngest sister, Amy, married Sam DeMonja on August 13th! And I have to tell you, it was a very sweet feeling sitting in that sealing room with both my parents and every single one of my siblings and our spouses. I'm sure it was even more special for my mom and dad. It is something I hope I can experience with my own kids one day.

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Grandma was able to come to the sealing. That same day was her and Grandpa's 74th wedding Anniverary!

I got to be the DJ at the reception which turned out to be so nice. The weather was perfect!

Such a cute older brother

The next day, we drove to Brigham City, where Sam is from and had another reception. They had this cool coach that I made the kids sit in for a picture.

So we now have 2 Sam's in the fam but Sam is perfect for Amy. Congratulations SAMY!!!!!!

Freedom Fest 2010!

For the past 8 years, dad and some of the family have been asked to go down to Las Vegas where dad's cousin, Mark, puts on a Freedom Fest. There are speakers from all over that come to speak about different topics (mostly political) and dad records them, burns them to cd's and sells them from Mark. Dan and I have never had the chance to go and help until this year. We had so much fun! Dad, Laurel, Sam, Missy and Karen came along. We all had our certain duties. Karen and I ran the front counter...we were good at getting people's attention at our booth. Hahahahaha! Dan was the Computer Tech Support, Dad edited all the speaches, Missy worked on putting the speeches onto the website and Laurel (the queen of Freedom Fest and dad's right hand), with the help of her hubby, Sam, burned all the cd's and made labels and made sure everything was organized. Mom, stayed at home (but packed us lots of yummy food so we didn't have to eat every meal out) and with the help of Jenny, Amy and Heidi, watched all the grandkids. Bless their hearts! But it was very worth it and I'm hoping to go again next year.

One of the booth's was handing out free blow up guitars and flamingos. We scored one of each for all of our kids. Nothing like bringing home free stuff!
This was mine and Dan's first time on the Vegas strip together. We drove through there on our honeymoon but never went on the strip. It was dirty and trashy like normal, but once we got inside of some of the places it was nice.
One of the big speakers was Steve Forbes. He'd recently had neck surgery so that's why he has the neck brace. My Uncle Paul is holding Grandpa's book, "The 5,000 Year Leap" which has become very popular the past coupele of years even though the book is 30 years old.
Our banquet dinner on the last day. Delicious food!!! The painting at the top, that girl painted in just a few minutes. It was impressive!

Let Freedom Ring!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, 4th of July is one my most favotrite times of the year! Of course we did all traditional things this year and wore our matching clothes (this time I got cute sandals for everyone too). So enjoy all the pics!

Lindsay and I even had Glitter toes

The kids decorated their bikes for the Holladay parade (Kaern's in-laws live up there and Karen and Christian alwasy invite us to come up the morning of the 4th for their little parade. It's so cute!)/ My dad is in the evil Lady Liberty mask.

Matt, Lauren & Matti AND Jenny & Carter (Ben came later) came for the 4th. It was so fun having them here. Matt and Lauren decided to find out what sex their baby is and told us with balloons.

IT'S A BOY! Due in early November!

Brooklyn and Matti

We went to see Toy Story 3 with most of the cousins. I cried, a lot! I love those dang toys in that movie!
